Exploring Historic Downtown Savanah Georgia

In early February 2022, we took a five day trip, and spent three of the five days in Savanah Georgia....it was rather cold still, but we enjoyed walking around the many beautiful parks and squares and admiring the architecture set amongst the huge spanish moss draped oaks...

We visited the recommended bucket list attractions of Downtown Savanah.... including The River Walk, The City Market, The Mercer House, Forsyth  Park, Jones Street (voted America's prettiest street), The Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist, and many of the 22 park squares and monuments.

Historic downtown Savanah is very beautiful, we enjoyed seeing everything it had to offer.

My husband did want me to mention that the parking was somewhat confusing at first, and could be costly depending on where you park. The least expensive location to park in the downtown area was at the Civic Center, which was a couple of blocks from River Walk and The City Market. Also, public restrooms are very limited, although many of the coffee shops and restaurants are kind enough to let you use their facilities. This is a walking city, so we recommend good walking shoes, bottled water and a good city map. Keep in mind that this is not just a tourist destination, it's a small busy bustling little city with some one way roads and a fair amount of traffic. Be sure to stop at crosswalks and look before walking onto a crosswalk.

In our opinion, Savanah is a lovely city full of southern charm and is a great couple's destination!

Thanks for coming along with us today!
