Exploring Biloxi Mississippi

For my birthday this year, near the end of April 2021, my husband and I took a trip over to Biloxi Mississippi for a getaway. We stayed on the Gulf Coast with views of the Mississippi Sound. Though Biloxi is known for it's many casino's,  that's not our thing....we really just wanted to go on a trip to relax and explore the history, and so we found some interesting things to do there. We went on a few nature walks in the area parks, we relaxed by the hotel pool for a little sun, and  we visited the grounds of "Beauvoir" House and The Jefferson Davis Home & Presidential Library, we also went to a huge indoor antique mall and I was happy to find a vintage painted tole tray to take back home with us....

This is the view of the light house from the Biloxi Visitors Center....

The visitor's center was a treat to walk through, just look at the grand staircase....

I can't remember the names of these parks, but we just googled walking parks on our phone and found these...

There were spring flowers blooming still.....

We even enjoyed a moonlit walk by the shore on the boardwalk....I managed to get a picture of the full moon from the truck...it was gorgeous...

We visited the grounds of Beauvoir (French for beautiful view or beautiful to see), and it's name fit it perfectly. It has views of the Mississippi Sound. It was built in 1852 and holds a lot of history.

We sat on the sitting porch and rocked the time away, while we waited for the home tour to begin....the gulf breeze felt wonderful....

The home is so pretty, it is still being restored because of damage done by Hurricane Katrina, but  they've done an amazing job restoring it so far...

Our tour guide was a wonderful story teller and made the history of this place come alive, she was dressed in the period  appropriate clothing and she had the sweetest southern voice....we enjoyed the home tour very much....

There's a rose garden through this garden gate, but I didn't get pictures of it, they were working the day we were there.....

A nature trail follows along to Oyster Bayou....

Along the trail you'll find a Historic Cemetery, and the Tomb of the Unknown-Confederate Soldier....

The moss draped trees are beautiful here...

I loved the little water feature too....

The Jefferson Davis Presidential Library and Museum is on the grounds, as well as a couple of cottages from the mid 1800's....

And that about concludes the tour...

Here's our view from the hotel window.....

We so enjoyed waking up to the views of the Mississippi Sound that was just across the street....

Here's a few more pics that we took at the visitor's center....

We had a fun visit to the charming Gulf Coast of  Biloxi, Mississippi, we made some great memories here.....I hope you liked coming along with us!

P.S.  My husband wanted me to mention Hart's Restaurant, it's just outside of Biloxi, heading toward Ocean City. We ate lunch there and they had a great lunch buffet. If  you like southern cooking, there was a great selection and it was seasoned perfectly. It was not a fancy place, but very friendly, hospitable, clean, affordable and delicious. We highly recommend it. They do a dinner buffet too.
