Falling Waters State Park Chipley Florida...

 (Photos taken May 30, 2018)
This Florida State Park is located in the Northwest Florida Panhandle in Chipley, Florida. This place is home to Florida's tallest waterfall. There is a boardwalk trail that's nice and shaded.....it meanders through to sink holes and the waterfall. It's a beautiful, interesting and peaceful place. The best time to visit for viewing the waterfall is after a good rain....(the amount of flow of the waterfall depends on the amount of rain the area has had).

Above is one of the sinkholes....and below the waterfall...
We only live a short drive from here....and we've been here many times over the years and we'd never seen it as beautiful as this.... the other times we've been here the waterfall has only been a trickle....so it was a treat to see it like this....

Thanks for coming along for a quick visit to the tallest waterfall in Florida! There is much more to see here in this park.....To find out more you can click HERE

Desoto Falls State Park and Little River Canyon National Preserve...

(Photos were taken May 23, 2018)
For our spring vacation this year we went to Desoto Falls State Park and Little River Canyon National Preserve located atop Lookout Mountain just outside of Fort Payne in Northeastern Alabama....

The first place we visited was Little River Canyon National Preserve Little River Falls...it's located just off of the parking area and had easy access to see Little River Falls.....

The rush of the water sounded wonderful and this place was amazing....

Spring had sprung in North Alabama so there were plenty of wild flowers blooming ....

We drove along the canyon rim to take in the views, there were many pull off areas and overlooks to take in the sights....

Next we were off to Desoto Falls State Park.....
The Talmadge Butler Boardwalk Trail was just inside the park, and only a short walk took us to Azalea Cascade....

There wasn't much water flowing at the time we were here, (the visitor center attendant had mentioned to us that the water was lower than usual).  We thought it was still very pretty, and it was a nice shady spot to sit and relax for a while....

Then we drove on to Desoto Falls......
Where we found this serene lake at the parking area...
The Canadian Geese were there enjoying their day here with us ....

Below the lake was a dam and the waterfalls.....

I couldn't capture the massiveness of this place....it is beautiful ....I imagine it is even more beautiful during the autumn season, when the leaves are changing colors...

We had a fun time spending the day in these two parks, it is a special place....thanks for coming along with us!
